The Tuscany-Canterbury Neighborhood Association was given the 2009 Historic Preservation Honor Award by Baltimore Heritage for leadership in saving two of Tuscany-Canterbury's important historic buildings: the Scottish Rite Temple and the Castalia Residence. Baltimore Heritage, an organization that has worked for many years to keep the historic nature of Baltimore City intact and vibrant, hosted the event on Thursday, June 18, at Garrett Jacobs Mansion at 11 Mount Vernon Place. Many leaders in Baltimore's construction, architecture, business, and political fields attended the event.
Executive director Johns Hopkins and Board President Will Backstrom presented the award. TCNA President Sue Talbott and Vice-President AJ O'Brien accepted it on behalf of TCNA, and Kevin Lowery, Ralph Kurtz, Gary Sachau and our very own Mary Pat Clarke were given the same honor for their valuable contributions to the landmarking of both the Masonic Temple and Castalia.
